THE FUTURE HAS ARRIVED! It may be challenging to keep things in perspective while we are witnessing what appears to be a global meltdown. Although the COVID-19 virus appears to have triggered a global pandemic, it has also unleashed planet-wide fear. However, it is in times of crisis that astrology can help us to regain our footing. Of course, awareness of the planetary patterns does not change the facts. For most people, life has changed overnight and might never be quite the same. For many years, astrologers have looked forward to these times. Many of us have talked about the boundary-changing Saturn-Pluto conjunction that was exact on January 12, 2020, but now we are in the midst of a structural metamorphosis that will takes months, or longer, to play out. The ways in which we must change our daily patterns of living is consistent with Saturn's recent shift into futuristic Aquarius. Social distancing is a workable metaphor for restrictive Saturn in community-minded Aquarius.

The Libra Full Moon on April 7 draws our attention to the stress of all relationships, especially the primal opposition between self (Aries Sun) and others (Libra Moon). But the potent Jupiter-Pluto conjunct that is exact the same day, amplifies the ambient energy, bringing up profound psychological material from the dark. Meanwhile, an erratic Mars-Uranus square carries the potential of a sudden breakthrough or breakdown. Chiron the Healer is also involved in this Full Moon, offering a path toward amelioration, especially around April 8-10 and April 14. Nevertheless, on April 14-20, the Sun forms dynamic squares to Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn, further agitating the situation. The Sun’s shift into practical Taurus on April 19, followed by the steadfast Taurus New Moon on April 22, offers us a chance to set realistic goals, but challenges prevail as cerebral Mercury squares Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn on April 25-28. We should expect the unexpected as the Sun and Mercury conjunct wildcard Uranus on April 26 and April 30, respectively.

We might wish for a return to stability more than anything else, but the astrology points toward a volatile and changeful month. Nevertheless, there is a silver lining on the dark clouds. We are being offered a once-in-a-lifetime chance to stop, look, and listen. Unfortunately, the potential for human suffering is great. But in times of danger and crisis, there is also opportunity. We must do whatever is necessary on the outside to survive. Obviously, food, shelter, and water (and toilet paper!) are on everyone’s mind, but reinforcing our immune systems is also important. Simultaneously, we can initiate a period of self-examination, looking at the world we have created and considering what we can do to make our environment (local and global) a healthier place for all.

I wish you all safety and good health,

~Rick Levine
