It is only fitting that 2020 should go out the way it came in, and December will not disappoint those of us who expect more of the unexpected. Although we are living in stressful times, we get glimpses of hopeful optimism from Mercury’s entry into inspirational Sagittarius on December 1, followed by Venus on December 15. We are in eclipse season with the Sagittarius Solar Eclipse on December 14 confirming the looming shift of power. Nevertheless, eclipses open portals to other dimensions, suggesting there are still surprises in store.

The big cosmic news is the Grand Conjunction, the 20-year alignment of Jupiter and Saturn that indicates significant cultural shifts. But this upcoming conjunction is part of the Great Mutation Cycle, one-quarter of the 800-year Grand Conjunction Cycle. The elemental shift from Earth signs into Air signs resonates to Saturn exiting earthy Capricorn to enter airy Aquarius on December 16, followed by Jupiter on December 19. The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction occurs on the December 21 Solstice, further amplifying the significance of this profound event. Mars squares Pluto on December 23, kicking up another storm as hidden power struggles find their way into the open.

We can’t escape the tension that stems from the Sun and Mercury squaring Neptune on December 9 and 13, respectively, followed by the Mars-Pluto square on December 23, the Sun-Chiron square on December 25, and the Venus-Neptune square on December 30. But we can work with the potential for healing when Mercury trines Chiron on December 2, Venus trines Neptune on December 5, the Sun trines Mars on December 10, and Venus trines Chiron on December 19. We cap off the year with Mercury and the Sun forming expressing trines to innovative Uranus on December 24 and December 27, respectively.

There is no way to avoid the fact that the level of intensity remains high through the end of the year, only to begin to settle in late January 2021. Nevertheless, there is palpable movement that occurs in December, differentiating it from so much of the rest of 2020. After months of feeling like we’re stuck in some kind of Ground Hog’s Day scenario, the future finally comes calling. The challenges do not end as the year draws to a close. But it becomes obvious that the beginning of the end has arrived. The new year is ready to dawn upon us complete with the potential of creating the changes that have seemed elusive throughout 2020.
