Elections for 294 seats of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in 8 phases.
The All India Trinamool Congress ( AITC or TMC) is the current ruling and active party in West Bengal. The leader of the party is its founder, Mamata Banerjee. She is also the current Chief Minister of West Bengal who ended 34 years long regime of Left Party there.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has succeeded in installing itself as the pivot in all conversations, which going by the reputation of West Bengal as highly politically conscious, could be at least once every day, at home, at work, travelling or shopping.
BJP is confident that it has a fighting chance to dislodge Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, riding on anti-incumbency, a poor track record of her government, rampant corruption among its lower ranks, and of course, the popularity of Prime Minister Modi.
