Elections to the 243-seat Bihar assembly will be held in three phases--October 28, November 3, and 7, and the counting of votes will take place on November 10.
Even though there are many issues confronting Bihar, like the pandemic, health, migrants, unemployment and law and order, ultimately it will be a plebiscitary election around Nitish Kumar – whether he should be banished or continued with.
Earlier the election was expected to be essentially bipolar, between NDA (JDU/BJP/LJP/HAM) and Gathbandhan (GA) (RJD/Congress/Left/Vikassheel Insaan Party). Now LJP is out from NDA and VIP has joined the NDA. Ironically, LJP will not put up candidates against BJP, it will concentrate its firepower against JD(U) only.
Main candidates for CM post are Nitish Kumar, Sushil Kumar Modi, Chirag Paswan and Tejashwi Yadav.
