Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tenzin, is known as one of the great teachers of Buddhism. He holds the Geshe Lharampa degree, the highest scholarly degree in Tibetan Buddhism. For 14 years he served as senior teacher at His Holiness the Dalai Lama's personal monastery and tantric college. (Namgyal Monastery) In 1991, he was appointed Abbot of the monastery by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

In 1995, His Holiness appointed Khensur Rinpoche Abbot and Senior Resident Teacher at Namgyal Monastery in Ithaca, NY. He retired from Ithaca in 1998, and now resides at the Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center in Middletown, Connecticut.
