Katya Faris, M.A., M.A., is from Bloomington, Indiana, and a certified Jyotishi, or sidereal Vedic astrologer, Middle Eastern dance artist and Master level Reiki healing practitioner. She received her Master’s in Ethnomusicology in December 2012 from Indiana University studying Arab music and dance. While her two paths of being a divination consultant and an artist have been separate, they are now merging together and she speaks on the Divine Feminine as seen through the lens of Arab dance, and now Jyotisha, or the Science of Light from India. Katya created Hindustan Astrology to spread the light of Jyotisha and help people to understand their place in the cosmos.

She received her M.A. in Vedic Astrology from the University of Vedic Astrology with Joni Patry in 2018. She has been interested in astrology since she was nine years old when her mother had astrology books in the family home. She studied Western astrology for thirty years after that, and then switched to Jyotisha, or Vedic astrology, in 2010. She also has been a professional Tarot reader since 1989 and received a certification with the Builders of the Adytum in Los Angeles through their correspondence course. Katya is also a Master level Reiki healing practitioner and received her certification in 2014.

She has found that Jyotisha, the Science of Light, shares many theories and concepts with music, because they are both frequency based systems. In ethnomusicology we use music as a lens to view cultures, and in Jyotisha we use the planets as a lens to view a person's life. As cosmology is considered the "Queen of the Sciences", I found that studying Jyotisha was a natural extension of studying music.
Katya offers her clients a caring and holistic approach to astrology, as her experience with being a clairvoyant has helped her to get to the root of the issues in a chart right away. Astrology is the system of music of the soul, and the chart is the sheet music. She can help you to unlock stuck patterns so that you can sing your soul song again.
