Just because it's summer, it doesn't mean it's time for your child to stop learning. Keep them reading this summer with these six quick reading tips courtesy of Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County.

To help encourage your elementary school student to read this summer, you should:

* Design a reading spot for them- a quiet, comfortable place they can call their own while they enjoy a good book.
* Encourage them to read for at least 15 minutes a day.
* Make sure to ask questions before, during and after you read to your child. If your child is independent reader, ask them questions after they have finished reading for the day.
* Don't force it. Make it fun!
* Let your child select what they read. They will enjoy books about topics that excite them.
* Read together with your young child. Bond with your child over a good book.
